Dr Joshua Heerey is an APA Titled Sport & Exercise Physiotherapist and holds a PhD specialising in hip pain and hip osteoarthritis. He is an internationally recognised clinician and researcher with expertise in hip and groin conditions, including femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAI), hip dysplasia, labral pathology, athletic groin pain, and hip osteoarthritis.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Heerey is a Senior Research Fellow at La Trobe University’s Sport & Exercise Medicine Research Centre. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications in leading international journals such as Nature Reviews Rheumatology and the British Journal of Sports Medicine. He is an active member of major international research groups, including the International Hip-Related Pain Research Network and the Oxford University Young Athlete’s Hip Research Collaboration.
Dr Heerey has delivered over 30 invited presentations, and his research has contributed substantially to advancing the understanding of hip pain and the progression of hip conditions in young adults. He works closely with orthopaedic surgeons and sports physicians to provide evidence-informed rehabilitation and post-surgical care for individuals with complex hip and groin disorders.
