I graduated from the Gilles Plains College of TAFE in 1986 with a Diploma of Dental Hygiene. Since then, I have worked with many different dentists including Dr Durgood in Renmark, Dr Stanbeuicius, Dr Vagrona, and locum work with Dr Hobby and Dr Thomas. As a school student I always had an interest in science and health, and this led to an interest in dentistry in later years. I practice general dentistry and spend the majority of my time in a clinical setting. I am pleased to be part of a dental practice which maintains a high standard of dental care, and keeps up to date with the latest technology for our patients to benefit from. I work hard to be gentle yet thorough, and enjoy chatting with patients to make them feel comfortable. In my spare time, I keep fit through walking and paddle boarding, and enjoy dining out at Adelaide’s many wonderful restaurants. I also have an interest in growing fruit and vegetables, although not with a high degree of skill! I devote time to surf life saving with the Henley Community Garden.

Dr Shawn Paul is a gentle, warm, and caring dentist with 10 years of clinical experience since graduating in 2015. In 2019, he completed a postgraduate diploma from the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and is an active member of the faculty. Shawn is known for his attentive and patient-centered approach to dentistry, always going the extra mile to ensure every patient feels comfortable, informed, and well cared for. His clinical interests include Same-Day CEREC Crowns, Root Canal Treatment and Invisalign aligners. Outside the clinic, Shawn loves exploring Adelaide’s vibrant food scene, discovering new cafes and restaurants. He stays active with running, F45 training, and has recently taken up pickleball as a new hobby.

A graduate of the University of Adelaide, Sasha is a conscientious and compassionate dentist who engages with her patients to deliver the highest standard of care. She believes in treating her patients with the care and comfort she would her own family and wants to help her patients achieve their best oral health and feel good about their smiles. She frequently attends professional development courses to keep up to date with current advances in dental procedures and technology. Sasha is planning on a long term career with us for the benefit of our patients and her own professional development. Her interests outside of dentistry include cooking, sewing and crochet, running, travel, and walking some of the beautiful trails in parks around our city. Sasha’s friendly demeanour, integrity and gentle approach makes her a valued asset for National Dental Care, West Lakes.

Julie McDonald is one of our friendly Dental Hygienists. She graduated from TAFE SA - Advanced Diploma of Oral Health in 2007. She has over 20 years experience in the dental field with a special interest in periodontal disease management from working 4 years in a periodontal practice. She values the importance of good oral hygiene and its relationship between healthy mouth healthy body. Also a strong belief prevention is better than cure and will work closely with you and your dentist to provide you with up-to-date knowledge and technology to achieve your best dental outcome. Julie is loving being part of our friendly team ( and fantastic view) providing you with a relaxing and enjoyable dental visit. Outside of work you may see her canoeing on the lake or taking a walk. She will chat about almost anything from footy to what’s on at the theatre. She can’t wait to meet you or see you again for a relaxing clean.
